This worldwide constitution provided legal protection from unfair imprisonment and guarded against torture and mistreatment; it also held those found guilty of abusing the rights of others accountable, using nonviolent means. What an enduring concept. Sam smiled to himself, remembering Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu, and Gandhi before them.

Article 10: No Entity private or public shall levy usury fees.… Free access to Education at all levels is a right of the People.

Sam practically shouted out loud when he read this—no more unfair student loans then! Education would be available to everyone. Lending money at unreasonably high rates of interest would be illegal and unnecessary, and public funds would be set aside for the benefit of the people.

Article 11: Everyone has the Right to Free Speech, freedom of Opinion and Expression.… However, it is everyone’s Responsibility to be truthful in the dissemination of Information and to adhere to the guiding Principle of Nonviolence in Speech as well as Action.
